2 SEO Tips that Most Often Forget – Google Loves This

Is your site receiving FREE traffic from Google?

One of the secrets of being successful online is to rank higher in the Google and other search engines for your targeted keywords. This is a daunting task but the results of ranking higher are more traffic which also creates more sales opportunity for you. We will cover more on converting your visitors on another day but today we want to share with you 2 SEO tips that people often forget.

If you have a website chances are you are trying to rank well in the most popular search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. It is the way things work. We all love FREE traffic right? I know I do and free traffic is my number one source of income from sites like this and my other niches. Traffic is key to succeed online and if you doubt that then you should probably find an exit from this site because you will never succeed online. Hate to be blunt but that is the fact.

How do you rank higher in search engines? Well here are a couple of tips to get you started.

Create Quality Content

Write for search engines and your readers

Creating content is probably the hardest part of your job as an Internet marketer. It is hard to come up with a few unique blog posts per week and to rank them well in the SERPs. It is often blocked by what we call writers block or people in my family would call a brain fart or creativity block. I follow hundreds of blogs and sometimes I use what I read as my topic because I think I need to stress more on a certain part of that topic or I feel I can better the topic with my understanding and knowledge of it.

Creating quality content is even harder because most of us think we are writing for Google. If you simply take away Google and act like search engines do not exist you will do much better. Google does not make you money your readers do. That alone is what drives me to write my content for my readers. They pay my bills not Google.

Yes, Google does send me traffic but my readers deserve a great experience here on my website/blog.

Build yourself as a professional on your subject matter and deliver quality information to your readers that is found nowhere else. I know above I mentioned that I follow hundreds of blogs and get ideas for blog posts from them blogs but I make them my own and add my own unique spin to the subject. I never blatantly copy another writers work. I may link to it if necessary but I do not copy at all. That would hurt you more than anything. Copy and paste is not your friend. Trust me!

Writing for search engines is bad to do at the start of your article. Write your content starting out for your readers then go back to it and stress on certain parts for the search engines. I usually wait a few days then I go in and add to the content in some ways or I link to other similar posts to further the reading experience of my visitors and gain Google’s attention to that other post. I often link to other blog posts in my site with a keyword that you use say in a post like this. For example if I created a post about Google’s Penguin Update last week and I wrote this blog post mentioning the Penguin Update I would link to the post with the keyword mentioned. It is an easy way to build your internal linking and gain more credit with Google.

Google loves fresh content. When I first started my Internet marketing career I seen that Google crawled my pages once or twice per day but now they never leave. It is because I am updating my content on a reg and they have to crawl my site more often to keep up. Attached to this blog is an Internet Marketing Forum that is being posted to daily. Google loves the daily feed.

The goal with your blog should be to provide quality information that is really useful to your readers and can help them in solving their problems.

Blog Commenting

This is something that I found by accident. I never read an article about how blog commenting can gain you a reader or two or how it can drive loads of traffic to your blog or website. One trick that I hold dear is working for me every day. I mentioned above that I follow hundreds of blogs. Well I do and of those hundred or so blogs I do comment on at least half of the articles posted. I link it to a similar blog post and comment. My comment is the power in this method because my comments either question the article’s truth or really adds to the content in a way that makes the comment reader curious.

Commenting can harm your reputation so do it in a way that you are safe. If you disagree with something in a blog post show your facts and write an article on why you disagree but do not attack the owner of that article you are commenting on. Simple post a comment and say that they are not correct and you invite them to read your article on the subject. That alone will grab their audience and shift them to you for now. Your job is to correct the mistake and make the article a fact and win over the new audience.

Blog commenting is also a valuable link to your blog. Your name is the link in most cases so it is a good idea to use your target keyword for your blog as the link. Most comments are no follow links but Google still sees that link to your site with that keyword and will give you credit for that keyword. It is a simple way to build links to your site.

I see many people using commenting software but that is no good. That has no value except growing your backlinks. When Google or other search engines notice that blog or article has been spammed heavy they will penalize you for having spammed yourself. Be careful what you do to gain backlinks. Google is getting smarter and smarter when it comes to finding relevancy in a webpage or website.

Now for a little bonus…

Advertising your Blog Post

No one comes to a site that they cannot find…right?

After a great blog post it is your duty to get traffic to that post. You want people to read it or you would not have posted it in the first place…right? Here are some techniques I use to advertise my blog post.

Social Media – Post a link to your article on Facebook, Digg, Stumble Upon and as many other social networks you can. This will get readers to your article.

Email Marketing – Why not have the option for your readers to subscribe to your blog by popular services like Feed Burner. Feed Burner sends a daily email to your subscribers notifying them about a post you made to your blog. It is an option that I suggest that you take advantage of and best of all it is free. You can also grow your own list of subscribers and tell them about your new blog post asking them to share it on their social media favorites. People who ask for referrals will get some referrals. Never hurts but do it professionally. Be creative with how you ask. Find out what works and what don’t. Do what does and don’t do what does not.

One of my favorite ways is more writing. I am a member of many article writing websites and I always take the topic I write to the next level on my own blog. I create a smaller article on the subject then link it to my blog post where the magic of information happens.

I have a large following because I create great content and I offer my wisdom to help people trying to make money online or write a great blog.
